NEW DELHI - Organizers of ICC Cricket World Cup were left embarrassed on Thursday when the South African national anthem was cut short before their first World Cup encounter against the West Indies here in Delhi.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed their regret on behalf of the host union to CSA (Cricket South Africa) and the national team.
According to a statement from ICC; a technical mistake caused a recording of "Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika” to be cut short.
South African team manager Dr. Mohamed Moosajee responded saying, “The International Cricket Council has stressed that this will not happen again going forward. We also realised that the anthem was of a poor quality and we will make sure that a better quality version is used for all of our matches going forward”.
