DHAKA: The 2011 ICC World Cup, the biggest event of the cricketing world, would open today with a festive opening ceremony here on Thursday.
Bangabandhu National Stadium, will be centre of attraction for the cricket fanatics of all over the world. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 will kick off at 5:00 pm PST with a grand ceremony that is set to feature about 4,000 performers.
Canadian pop sensation Bryan Adams will add diversity to what promises to be a spectacular show along with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, who have composed the official song for the World Cup 'De Ghuma Ke (Hit it Hard)', and Sonu Nigam will represent India while Runa Laila of the Dama dam mast kalandar fame and Mila, a local pop icon, will be the prominent Bangladeshis on display.
The culture of Pakistan will not be seen at the over two-hour ceremony. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will officially announce the opening of the 45-day Mega Event.
