Anura Tennakoon, Sri Lankan cricket team manager, got sad news of his father’s death while he has been in Bangladesh to participate in opening ceremony of the cricket world cup, here on Thursday. He will fly to Sri Lanka on today as per schedule; but the funeral has already been took place on Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan batsman Chamara Silva is expected to miss the first match of his team due to the death of his elder sister, Nelum Anusha Silva. According to Brian Thomas, Sri Lankan media manager, Silva left team hotel in Colombo early in the morning on Thursday after getting the news of his sister’s demise.
Sri Lanka has scheduled to play their first match on Sunday against Canada.
