Dhaka - As Bangladesh is set to co-host, with India and Sri Lanka, the biggest sporting event since its existence in 1971; the enthusiasm and passion is worth watching in the cricket fanatics of the country. Eight matches including two-quarter finals are scheduled to be played in the cities of Dhaka and Chittagong. Bangladesh will also host the inaugural ceremony on 17 February in the capital Dhaka.
Now Cricket World Cup only two days away and the cricket fans of the capital city, Dhaka, are on the shopping spree to purchase dresses made with the twin colours to coincide with the national flag and jersey of the national cricket team, in gala of the mega event beginning Feb 19. Tickets for the matches have sold out quickly and many fans are disappointed that they cannot even get tickets even for the opening ceremony.
The shops in the areas close to the Bangabandhu National Stadium, where the inauguration of the tournament will take place on tomorrow (Wednesday, Feb. 17), have already put on the red-n-green shade — providing the total surrounding a cheerful look.
Bangladesh Cricketing Authorities have spent more than $100m on the tournament with most of it was utilized to modernize stadiums and develop infrastructure facilities.
