Dhaka - Bangladesh managed to grab a thriller against Ireland by 27 runs. Bangladesh started off with the spinners and it worked perfectly for them as they sent back the openers cheaply. None of the Irish batsmen got going and the Bangladeshi spinners continued to pile on the pressure. Kevin O’Brien and Andre Botha strung together a good partnership, but Shafiul Islam broke the partnership and ran through the tail to complete a thrilling 27 run victory for the Tigers. This victory was their first against the Irish in all ICC tournaments and they have kept themselves alive in the competition.
Earlier, Ireland dominated the first part of the game when they bowled perfectly to force Bangladesh to corner. It was really a big achievement for Irish bowlers to get The Tigers out for just 205 on the board. Tamim Iqbal was the highest run getter for Bangladesh with his 44 and named as man of the match.
The team position significantly changed with this Bangladeshi victory that pulled them to number four in the Group 'B'.
