AHMEDABAD – New Zealand cruised into 10-wicket victory against Zimbabwe. Kiwi’s crossed the target of 162 without losing any wicket in just 33.3 overs. Martin Guptill (86) and Brendon McCullum (76) hammered Zimbabwean bowlers all around the park and showed no mercy for the bowlers.
Earlier, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bat first in 18th match of the World Cup and 10th match of Group ‘A’. The batting collapse started with the run out of Coventry and Zimbabwe kept on losing wicket with regular intervals. The small resistance came from Brendan Taylor (44), Prosper Utseya (36), Graeme Cremer (22), and Lamb (18).
New Zealand bowlers dominated the batsmen with their impressive line & length which was effectively supported by the Kiwi fielders.
Martin Guptill named man of the match for his blistering knock of 86 runs.
Team positions in Group ‘A’ didn’t effect significantly by this victory by New Zealanders. Pakistan is still leading the table with six points followed by Sri Lanka and Australia respectively.
