World Cup (March 14) - Updated Team Position in Group 'B' After Bangladesh Victory Against Dutch

CHITTAGONG – Bangladesh are enjoying much-needed victory against Netherlands by 6 wickets here on Monday at Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong.

Bangladesh were never seemed in trouble chasing a meagre target of 161 runs except in the very first over of their innings when Mudassar Bukhari cleaned up inform Tamim Iqbal. But after that they never looked back and headed towards the total steadily.

Imrul Kayes, man of the match in the upset victory against England, once again played an anchor role to lead their team through to victory. He got involve in the crucial partnerships with first with Junaid Siddique (35) and then with Shariar Nafees (37). He was named man of the match again for his match winning unbeaten innings of 73 runs.

Earlier, Netherlands won the toss and chose to bat first but Dutch stumble in the very early stages of the innings losing four wickets for just 79 on the board. Dutch batsmen had no solution to the spin attack of ‘Bangla Tigers’ as Bangladesh bowler got the utmost support from their fielders.

Abdur Razzak picked up three wickets while Shakib Al Hasan, Rubel Hossain and Suhrawadi took one wicket each. Four of the Dutch batsmen fell prey to the excellent fielding by Bangladesh as their skipper led from the front and involved in two run outs.

Bangladesh’s confident victory led them a step closer to the quarterfinals of the mega event and they climbed up to the fourth spot in the Group ‘B’ points table. Now a lot depends upon the match between England and West Indies. If England would manage to win then Bangladesh will be in trouble again as they have only one match in their hands now and that is against South Africa.
