BANGALORE - After a thrilling victory against England on Wednesday, the major upset of 2011 World Cup; the giant-killers Ireland are ready to play aggressive cricket in Sunday's tie against India as they attempt to add the host nation to their list of upsets.
Ireland, The non-Test-playing nation, came up with the shock of the tournament to stagger England by three wickets on Wednesday and all-rounder John Mooney said they would take on the same daring strategy in Bangalore.
John Mooney, who took four wickets and scored a crucial 33 not out against England, told that they expect the same outcome from India match on Sunday and will fight till the last ball because we play every match with no other goal than “win”.
Ireland has lost their opening match against Bangladesh with a short margin of 27 runs and they have two points from two matches and a win over India would be a major step towards reaching the next round of quarter-finals.
They owed their victory to influential batting of Kevin O'Brien, who hammered a 50-ball hundred, the fastest in World Cup history, as they revamped England's imposing 327 for eight.
India, with three points after two matches, including a dramatic tie against England, may be struggling to find the right bowling combination but O'Brien said the hosts had the resources to keep pressure on his team.
