Imran Tahir's Left Thumb Fracture May Run Him Out of The World Cup: Cricket South Africa

CHENNAI - Pakistan-born South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir, who is the second-leading wicket taker in World Cup following Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi, has suffered a thumb fracture on his left hand while trying to catch a sharp chance off Jonathan Trott on his own bowling on last Sunday (March 06) at Chennai.

The 31-year-old Imran Tahir has been regarded as a ‘Seceret Weapon of Graeme Smith’ at the tournament has already too 11 wickets after making his debut for South Africa in their opener against West Indies.

His involvement in the rest of the mega event is, however, now in some doubt with Cricket South Africa revealing they would make a decision on his fitness in the next two days.

In a statement CSA said, "His thumb has been splintered and immobilised and a decision on what happens further will be made in the next two days."
