 MUMBAI – Simon Doul described the pith as it is a brand new stadium and it is a brand new pitch. The pitch is hard and there is a good covering of fresh grass. This grass has been rolled in and the bowlers will get a lot of assistance in the start of the match. The team that wins the toss will want to use the freshness of the pitch and bowl first.

Canada has won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first to extract some help from the early moisture in the pitch, as per the pitch report suggested.
New Zealand will is their skipper Daniel Vettori because of knee injury sustained during the match against Pakistan.
