ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 - - Leg-Spinner Danish Kaneria Wants PCB to Explain His Exclusion From World Cup Squad

Leg-spinner Danish Kaneria wants the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to explain why he was not cleared to play at next month's ICC Cricket World Cup.

"The PCB has turned down our request for a meeting and it is a frustrating situation for Danish," his lawyer Steven Haurigan told a news conference on Saturday.

"We just want the situation to be clear about Danish but if the PCB does not respond to us then we cannot rule out the option of a legal recourse."

Kaneria had played for Essex for five years but the English county ended his contract last season after he came under investigation in a spot-fixing case involving a Pro-40 match.

The Essex police later cleared Kaneria, who submitted letters to the PCB from the International Cricket Council and Essex to prove he was not under investigation.

However, the PCB has continued to ignore Danish Kaneria.

"We have sought a meeting with the board because we want this confusion cleared up and to satisfy them on any questions they might have regarding Kaneria's investigation by the Essex police," Haurigan said.

The 30-year-old Kaneria, who has taken 261 wickets in 61 Tests, was initially selected by Pakistan for November's Test series against South Africa but was later refused clearance by the board to join the squad in Dubai.

Kaneria's last Test appearance was in August during Pakistan's tour of England.
