Pakistan have named Mohammad Yousuf and Kamran Akmal in their Initial squad for ICC Cricket World Cup starting next month in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh - but Shoaib Malik or Danish Kaneria couldn’t find their places in that squad.
Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik both appeared before the Pakistan Cricket Board's integrity unit earlier this week, and only wicketkeeper-batsman has been handed a place in the 30-man party.
Salman Butt, Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Amir couldn’t be considered as probables as the trio are temporarily suspended following the spot-fixing allegations that rocked the tour of England last summer, with their ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal set to start on Thursday.
Star batsman Muhammad Yousuf, meanwhile, has been left out of the side in recent months due to concerns over his form and fitness, but the 36-year-old has been playing in Bangladesh and has taken a personal trainer with him in an effort to be available for the mega event.
Chairman of selectors Mohsin Khan said: "We are satisfied that we have selected the best squad from amongst the available players. The selection committee met on multiple occasions and only then decided on the names. I request the whole nation to back the selected players who need all the encouragement to win the World Cup."
Pakistan have been drawn in Group A alongside Australia, Canada, Kenya, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
