CHENNAI, India (Fri, April 13) – No team is invincible now in the Indian Premier League (IPL 5) 2012 as the lone unbeaten team Pune Warriors (PW) lost yesterday night to Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), who won their first two points in the ongoing T20 tournament.

IPL 2012: Latest Points Table (April 13) -- Historical chase by Chennai, Mumbai remained on top
Pune Warriors vs Kings XI Punjab was the first match of the day nine, which proved to be one-sided in the end and KXIP crushed Pune by 8 wickets. Dimitri Mascarenhas was named man of the match for his extraordinary bowling spell in which he picked up 5 wickets, costing just 25 runs. Then Shaun Marsh 64 (54) batted brilliantly to get past the target of 116 with more than 2 overs to spare.

The real excitement of the day was the match between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The match was really one of the more thrilling in IPL, which produced second highest run chase in IPL history.

Albie Morkel’s 28 (7) helped smash 45 off the last two overs to achieve the Himalayan task of 206. In the first part of CSK batting Faf du Plessis set the platform with 71 runs off 46 balls with the help of 5 boundaries and 4 sixes. He was named man of the match for his superb batting skills.

The match was a real roller-coaster from very first ball to the last moment as Chris Gayle (68 off 35) smashed Chennai bowlers all around the park and helped Bangalore to pile up 205 which initially looks an impossible target for Chennai.

After these two matches positions have been shuffled quite a bit other than the top position which is still held by Mumbai Indians. Pune dropped a step and Chennai stepped up to number five on Points Table. Detailed points table are presented above.
