CHENNAI, India (Wed, Apr 04) – The fifth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to be kicked off today (Wednesday, April 04) and glitzy opening ceremony took place yesterday at YMCA ground.

Thousands of cricket and showbiz lovers enjoyed the each and every moment of the mega-star extravaganza. The ceremony was not only adorned by Bollywood stars and Cricket stars but special performance by Hollywood`s India-lover Katy Perry also forced people to dance and rejoice.

Big names from showbiz like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Prabhudeva, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra went through their routines during a lively 2-hour colorful ceremony. 

Katy Perry, whose short-lived marriage in India took place two years ago, injected energy into the crowd with her ‘Desi’ avatar performing on her top single ‘Teenage Dream’.

The IPL V opening ceremony set the tone for the tournament beginning today that features nine teams and some of the world`s best cricketers.
