BRIDGETOWN, Barbados - - Rampant Pakistan will clinches the winning lead of 3-0 in 5-match ODI series against West Indies beating the hosts by 3 wickets in the 3rd ODI at Kensington Oval.
Although Pakistan batting collapsed in the early stage of the innings when Ravi Rampaul took three quick wickets of Muhammad Hafeez, Asad Shafiq and Ahmed Shahzad with just 12 runs on the board.
Middle-order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq provided the steadying presence to ensure Pakistan wrapped up their ODI series against West Indies in a rain-reduced match. The veteran right-hander applied patience above all else in a match-winning innings of 62 from 109 balls to edge his side past a modest target of 171 with three wickets in hand.
Misbah-ul-Haq enjoyed a good support first from Umar Akmal (30) and then from youngster Hammad Azam (36). Wahab Riaz also played an impressive little knock of 17 runs off 16 balls to take Pakistan through to the victory. Ravi Rampaul picked up three wickets while Devendra Bishoo took two wickets.
Earlier Pakistan won the toss and invited West Indies to bat first. Devon Smith lost his wicket on the first ball of the second over with just 6 runs on the board; but second wicket partnership of 86 runs between Lendl Simmons (51) and Darren Bravo (47) scratched Pakistan aims of inning the series. Then came Saeed Ajmal and claimed the wicket of Lendl Simmons just after he completed his half century.
The wickets kept on falling with regular successions for West Indies that restricted them to just 171 in 43.4 overs. Saeed Ajmal and Wahab Raiz took three wickets each; while Muhammad Hafeez claimed one and Junaid Khan picked up one wicket.
Misbah-ul-Haq named man of the match for his brilliant match winning innings full of patience and authority.
Pakistan will face West Indies on May 2 for the 4th ODI of the series at the same venue.
