India v Australia (3rd Test) Perth -- Australia crushed India by an innings and 37 runs

PERTH, Australia (Jan. 15) – India were outclassed by a huge margin of an innings and 37 runs in the third test against Australia just concluded at WACA, Perth.

Rahul Dravid was bowled yet again, as Australia made inroads before lunch to put themselves on course for a victory
The nightmarish run of men in blue continues in Australia as they crumbled for 171 in the second innings of the third test falling short of 37 runs from Australia’s first innings score of 369.

At lunch on day three in Perth, India were tottering at 165-6 in their second innings, still 43 away from Australia's first-innings total of 369. Virat Kohli was unbeaten on 69, with debutant Vinay Kumar on six.

The only resistance came from Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid; but once Dravid clean bowled by Harris, yet again, it looked like over for the tourists. Kohli was the highest runs getter in the second innings with his well-made 75, Dravid made 47 while no other batsmen succeeded to reach the double figure other than openers Gautam Gambhir (14) and Virender Sehwag (10).

There appeared to be a shadow of doubt in Sachin Tendulkar's mind about the second LBW appeal that was upheld against him in this match, but umpire Aleem Dar had none. Subsequent TV replays confirmed that even DRS would not have helped the maestro as Mitchell Starc's in-swinging delivery would have shaved the leg stump.

Gambhir was unlucky to get a short, rising delivery from Starc, but Sehwag resembled a strokeless wonder whose shots have all been stolen by Warner. And with Laxman emulating Don Bradman by departing for a duck in what should be his last Test innings, the rebuilding process can be fast tracked to the Adelaide Test.

Hilfenhaus grabbed four wickets yet again in the second innings, while Siddle and Starc contributed with 4 wickets and 3 wickets respectively to keep Australia on the course of victory.

This is seventh successive defeat for Dhoni’s men on foreign soil. Australia are now leading the 4-match series by 3-0 and poised for a clean sweep.
