ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 - - Initial Squad: Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is the first to announce its initial squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. The final squad will consist of 15 members. Experiences opening batsman Sanath Jayasuriya and the most successful pace bowler Chaminda Vaas despite their, absence from the ODIs for more than a year, are considered for the squad due the excellent previous records and past experience of the mega event.

Other than these two players the magical spinner, Muttiah Muralitharan, who is also expected to be included in the final 15, has also announced his retirement from ODI cricket after the upcoming 2011 World Cup. These experienced hands will be the key to win the upcoming bid which would have a definite edge of home crowd and home grounds, being a co-host of the mega event, in most of the matches.
