Rawalpindi Rams will face Karachi Dolphins in the final clash to own the National T-20 Champion. In the semifinals played yesterday; Rawalpindi Rams beat defending champions Lahore Lions by 47 runs while Karachi Dolphins outplayed Sialkot Stallions by 42 runs.

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (June 30) – In the second semifinal of the Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Tournament Karachi Dolphins beat Sialkot Stallions by 42 Runs to meet Rawalpindi Rams in the final scheduled to be played tomorrow (Friday/July 1).

Karachi Dolphins won the toss and elected to bat first. Asad Shafiq, despite losing his opening partner on early stages, played an unbeaten innings of 91 runs off 55 balls to pile up a score of 238/5 for Sialkot Stallions. An even better innings came from Rameez RajaRameez Raja (Jr.) smashing quick fire 97 runs off just 45 balls with 11 boundaries and 5 sixes.

Sarmad Anwar and AliAli Khan picked up two wickets each for Sialkot Stallions.

Wicket of blazing opener Imran NazirImran Nazir fell in very first over that left Stallions in big trouble. Two more quick wickets of Mansoor Amjad (9) and Shakeel Ansar (9) doubled the problems for Sialkot. In the Middle order Shahid Yousuf (40), Captain Shoaib MalikShoaib Malik (61) and Ali Khan (24) played good knocks but not enough to achieve the gigantic target set by Karachi Dolphins. All the team sent back to pavilion on 196 runs in 18.5 overs.

Sohail Kahan was the pick of the bowlers for Karachi Dolphins who picked up four important wickets, including Shoaib Malik, in his four overs conceding just 18 runs. Muhammad Sami and Azam Hussain claimed two wickets each.

Rameez Raja was named man of the match for his blazing innings of 97 runs.

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (June 30) – Defending champions Lahore Lions ousted by Rawalpindi Rams from the Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Tournament today here at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.

In the first semifinal, Rawalpindi Rams won the toss and decided to set a target for the defending champions. Despite losing openers quite early, Rawalpindi Rams managed to set a challenging target of 187 losing just 4 wickets; with the help of brilliant knocks by Jamal Anwar (67) and skipper Sohail Tanveer (60*).

Chasing a total of 187; which seemed quite achievable keeping in view the strength of Lahore Lions’ batting, defending champions kept on losing wickets on regular intervals and ultimately fell 48 runs short of target losing the semifinal by 47 runs. The significant contributions came from skipper Muhammad Yousuf (35) and Adnan Rasool (41*).

Young bowlers from Rawalpindi Rams bowled impressively to curtail the experienced side quite below the target set by their batsmen. Muhammad rameez, Samiullah and Raza Hasan claimed two wickets each and played a pivot role in an important triumph of their side.

Jamal Anwar was named man of the match for his controlled inning s of 67 runs off just 48 balls. 

Rawalpindi rams will meet the winner of the second semifinal which is underway right now between Karachi Dolphins and 5-time Champions Sialkot Stallions tomorrow (Friday/July 1).

Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Tournament - - Lahore Lions Crushed Islamabad Leopards by 43 Runs




FAISALABAD, Pakistan (June 28) – Two matches were played on Monday (June 27) in the ongoing Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Tournament in Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad. 

In the second match of the day Lahore Lions crushed Islamabad Leopards by 43 runs with the help of impressive bowling performance by all bowlers of Lahore Lions. 

Lahore Lions won the toss and elected to bat first and set an under-par target of 149 runs. Kamran Akmal top score d with 44 runs off 37 balls. Nasraullah Khan picked up three important wickets for Leopards.

In reply to Lahore Lions 148, Islamabad Leopards got all out for just 105 in 18.5 overs. Shan Masood top scored with his 32-run innings. Imran Ali picked up three wickets for Lahore Lions while Emad Ali, Saad Naseem and Adnan Rasool grabbed 2 wickets each.

Imran Ali was named man of the match for his 3-wicket bowling performance. This is second victory of Lahore Lions and they are on the top of points table with 4 points.

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (June 28) – Two matches were played on Monday (June 27) in the ongoing Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Tournament in Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad. 

In the first match Sialkot Stallions beat Hyderabad Hawks by 33 runs with the help of devastating bowling performance by Sarmad Anwar and Abdur Rehman who picked up three and two wickets respectively.

Earlier Hyderabad Hawks won the toss and invited Stallion to bat first. All the top five batsmen contributed effectively to set a big target of 184. Shahid Yousuf top scored with 48; while Mansoor Amjad and former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik contributed with 39 runs each.

Top wicket taker for Hyderabad Hawks, Nasir Awais, picked up two wickets for 32 runs in his 4 overs.

In search of the target of 184, the only resistance came from opening pair of Sharjeel Khan (74) and Azeem Ghumman (32). Other than those two batsmen only Shahid Qambrani (12) reached the double figure score and all team was sent back to pavilion by Sialkot Stallion’s bowlers with 34 runs short of the winning target.

Sarmad Anwar of Sialkot Stallions was named player of the match for his impressive bowling performance.

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (June 27) – Sunday was surely an upset day of the Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Tournament. Two matches were played yesterday (Sunday/June 27) and both matches fetched upsetting results as Multan Tigers beat Karachi Dolphins in the first match of the day, then in the second match Faisalabad Wolves were crushed by Rawalpindi Rams.

Summary of the first match between Multan Tigers and Karachi Dolphins is already posted here. Now let’s have a look to the second match between Faisalabad Wolves and Rawalpindi Rams in which hosts lost the match by four wickets.

The hosts won the toss and decided to bat first; but their experienced opener Muhammad Hafeez once again failed to deliver and fell on knot, actually second time in the tournament in two matches. Asif Ali, centurion in the first match, also got out very early after contributing jut 14 runs.  

Faisalabad Wolves set a target of 140/7. Wolves’ skipper Misbah-ul-Haq top scored with 36 runs off 42 balls. Sohail Tanveer and Raza Hasan took two wickets each for Rawalpindi Rams.

Chasing a modest target; Rawalpindi Rams had a great opening stand with impressive innings by Awais Zia (37) and Naved Malik (55). Although the middle order tumbled after their opening pair departed; but managed to reach the target in 17th overs.

Muhammad Hafeez picked up three wickets for the hosts. Naved Malik was named man of the match for his fiery innings of 55 runs off 30 balls.  

Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Tournament - Karachi Dolphins Handed an Upset Defeat by Multan Tigers

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (June 26) – The Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Tournament is going on in Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad. Two matches are scheduled today and one of them is already finished with a big upset as Multan Tigers have clinched a thriller from top-runner Karachi Dolphins by 14 runs.

Multan Tigers won the toss and elected to bat first which proved a right decision at the end. Tigers’ opener Zain Abbas played a blazing knock of 85 runs off 65 balls that helped Multan Tigers to pile up a target of 162/6, which ultimately proved too much for experienced side of Karachi Dolphins.

Sohail Khan and Haaris Ayaz claimed two wickets each for Karachi Dolphins.

In the chase of a modest total of 162; Karachi Dolphins lost their powerful opener Shahzaib Hasan very early but experienced Khalid Latif (51) struck back to revitalize the hopes of Dolphins. Rameez Raja also played a handy knock of 40 runs off 33 balls; but once both of these players left the crease the target was started to look like mighty Himalayan for Karachi Dolphins. No one in the middle order and lower order succeeded to threat impressive bowling efforts of Multan Tigers.

Zulfiqar Babar picked up 4 wickets in his 4 overs conceding just 18 runs; while Muhammad Irfan took three wickets giving away 24 runs. 

Zain Abbas and Zulfiqar Babar were named players of the match for their respective contributions in batting and bowling departments.

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (June 26) – The Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Tournament is going on in Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad. Two matches were played yesterday (Saturday/June 25).

In the first match Hyderabad Hawks beat Islamabad Leopards by 3 wickets. Sharjeel Khan of Hyderabad Hawks was named as player of the match for his brilliant innings of 61 runs off just 33 balls. 

After being invited to bat by Hyderabad Hawks; Islamabad Leopards set a target of 165 in allotted 20 overs. Zohaib Ahmed was the highest run getter for Leopards with his 55 runs inning off 40 balls. Ghulam Yasin took 4 wickets for Hawks.

In reply Hyderabad Hawks managed to reach the target in 19.1 overs to get their two points in the tournament. Zohaib Ahmed took three wickets for Leopards in his 4 overs conceding 27 runs.

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (June 25) – The Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Tournament is going on in Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad. Two matches were played yesterday, the first day of the tournament, between Faisalabad Wolves v Multan Tigers and Karachi Dolphins v Rawalpindi Rams. 

Faisalabad Wolves crushed the opponents by huge margin of 69 runs while Karachi Dolphins managed to hold their nerves to clinch the thriller by 9 runs.

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (June 24) – Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Cup, Group B: Karachi Dolphins v Rawalpindi Rams at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad (Jun 24, 2011)

In the second match of the day Karachi Dolphins won a thriller by nine runs against Rawalpindi Rams. In the absence of Shahid Afridi, right-arm pacer Muhammad Sami is leading Karachi Dolphins and Sohail Tanveer is captaining Rawalpindi Rams. 

Karachi Dolphins decided to bat first after winning the toss and set a fighting target of 146/7 with the help of highest runs getter Shahzaib Hasan (35), Rameez Raja (29) and Sarfaraz Ahmed (25). Samiullah took two wickets for Rawalpindi Rams.

Rawalpindi Rams had a flying start with Naveed Malik smashing quick 20 off just 9 balls; but Karachi Dolphins’ captain Muhammad Sami took few good steps and manoeuvre his bowlers quite impressively to curtail opponents on just 136-all out.  Umar Amin played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 54 off 79 runs; but no other batsman accompany him too long to get the target.

Azam Hussain took 3 wickets for Karachi Dolphins while Tanvir Ahmed, Tariq Haroon and Haaris Ayaz claimed two wickets each. Azam Hussain was named player of the match for his impressive bowling.

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (June 24) – Faysal Bank Super Eight T-20 Cup, Group B: Faisalabad Wolves v Multan Tigers at Faisalabad, Jun 24, 2011





Faisalabad Wolves thrashed Multan Tigers by huge margin of 69 runs in the opener of the tournament today here in Faisalabad.

Multan Tigers won the toss and invited hosts Faisalabad Wolves, led by Misbah-ul-Haq, to bat first. Test and ODI opener Muhammad Hafeez perished in very early stage of the match without scoring any run; but a brilliant century by Asif Ali and half century by Asif Hussain helped hosts to pile up huge score of 199/3 in allotted 20 overs. 

Abdur Rauf, Ahmed Raza and Zulfiqar Babar took one wicket each for Multan Tigers.  

The target proved to be too big to achieve for Multan Tigers, lead by Abdur Rauf, and all the team was abolished on just 130 in 18.2 overs. Only four batsmen succeeded to reach double figure score. Zeeshan Ashraf was the highest runs getter for Multan Tigers with his 27 scores.  

Hasan Mahmood bowled brilliantly and grabbed five wickets of Multan Tigers. Asif Ali was named player of the match for his smashing hundred off just 59 balls.

FAISALABAD, Pakistan (June 23) – The National Twenty20 Championship is scheduled to be started tomorrow (June 24) in Faisalabad. The National Twenty20 Championship is one of the most popular domestic events in Pakistan as it is televised live and also attracts huge crowds.



The latest edition will be live telecasted at Geo Super. Two matches are scheduled to be played on first day between Faisalabad Wolves vs. Multan Tigers at 5:00 pm and Karachi Dolphins vs. Rawalpindi Rams at 9:00 pm. 

Total eight teams are participating in the latest edition of the tournament and Lahore Lions will defend their title.

After a successful meeting with PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) chairman Ijaz Butt; Pakistan’s former ODI captain Shahid Afridi will get his ‘No Objection Certificate (NOC)’ restored and now he can play Friends League T20 in England. 

Talking to BBC Radio, Afridi’s lawyer confirmed that Shahid Afridi would be able to join Hampshire next week. “The meeting between Shahid and Ijaz Butt [PCB chairman] went very well and both parties have come to an amicable agreement,” he further added.

According to reports; former ODI captain Shahid Afridi met Chairman PCB Ijaz Butt in the presence of few government officials in Islamabad. 

According to a well-placed source within the Board, the meeting was objected to find out a quick solution to the present crisis that is surrounding Pakistan cricket. An out-of-court solution was also discussed, the source further added.

FAISALABAD, Pakistan – National Twenty20 Championship is scheduled to be started in Faisalabad; but the row between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and former ODI Captain Shahid Afridi can wilt the excitement of the thrilling championship. The National Twenty20 Championship is one of the most popular domestic event in Pakistan as it is televised live and also attracts huge crowds.

The National Twenty20 Championship will start on June 24 and last on June 30; but few more star players have not confirmed their presence already due to their engagement with Friends Life T20 in England.

Shahid Afridi Burst Out Against PCB, Ask President Zardari to Intervene

Shahid Afridi Lashes Out Against PCB
Former Pakistan skipper of ODI Team, Shahid Afridi, has announced his retirement from international cricket citing the behaviour and attitude of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

He said that a group from Punjab headed by selection committee member Muhammad Ilyas is working against him and responsible for all the disinformation about him.

Afridi has already pleaded to President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari to intervene the cricketing issues that needed immediate and keen attention from someone influential but out of the current PCB set up.

Afridi further said that his conflicts with Coach Waqar Younis were not too big to be resolved through talks; but the same group has used these small conflicts to react big.
