MUMBAI, India (Sat, May 20) – The last two league round matches of
IPL 2012 are scheduled today; first one between Deccan Chargers (DC) &
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the second one between Rajasthan Royals
(RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI).
IPL 2012: Play-off Schedule -- Qualifier 1 (Delhi vs Kolkata) on May 22 |
The results of both matches will not affect the two leading teams i.e. Delhi
Daredevils (DD) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR); but it’s a real ‘do or die’
situation for RCB. If they lose they can’t qualify for the play-off stage and the
defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will sustain their position in
final four teams. And if RCB win today they will jump up to number three or
four (depends upon the result of the second match for today) on points table
thus will qualify for play-off stage on the cost of CSK.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians (MI) will also try to win the final league
match to enter in the play-off stage with a winning note; but even if they lose
they will though to play-offs.
On the basis of current points table position and more likely win/loss
situation; the qualifier 1 will be played between Delhi Dare Devils (DD) and
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday (May 22); while Mumbai Indian (MI) will
face Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) or Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in
eliminator on Wednesday (May 23). The winner of Qualifier 1 will be through to
the final will the loser will get another chance to qualify for final.
In the second qualifier; the loser of qualifier 1 (DD or KKR) will face the
winner of eliminator (MI or RCB/CSK) on Friday (May 25) and the final will be
played between winner of Qualifier 1 and the winner of Qualifier 2 on Sunday
(May 27).
