DHAKA, Bangladesh (Thu, Mar. 15) – In the third match of 2012 Asia Cup Cricket Tournament Pakistan will face Sri Lanka today (Thursday, March 15) here at She-e-Bangla National Stadium.
Pakistan have beaten the hosts Bangladesh in the tournament opener on weekend in a nail biting contest; while Sri Lanka were outclassed by India by 50 runs on Tuesday. In this context; it is very much clear that in today’s match Sri Lanka will be in a ‘do or die’ condition. Another loss can eradicate all their hopes in this tournament. On the other hand; Pakistan can firm their position to play in the big final on March 22 by producing another match winning performance on the soil of Bangladesh.
Pakistan has far better record in ODI’s against Sri Lanka; but in the same time they have lost eight times on previous occasions in Asia Cup in total of 11 meetings. Therefore, Sri Lanka have their edge playing specifically in this tournament.
