DHAKA, Bangladesh (Mon, Mar. 12) – Pakistan managed to defeat Bangladesh by 21 runs in the Asia Cup thriller at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday. In reply to Pakistan 262, the hosts were all out for 241.

SUMMARY - Scores: Pakistan 262-8 in 50 overs (Mohammad Hafeez 89, Nasir Jamshed 54) v Bangladesh 241 in 48.1 overs (Tamim Iqbal 64, Shakib Al Hasan 64)
Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal bowled Pakistan to an electrifying 21-run victory with eleven balls to spare. Gul picked up three wickets in hosts’ 241 all out as Shakib Al Hasan's courageous 64 went in vain.
Gul also played a cameo innings of 39 runs to rescue the tumbling innings of Pakistan after a solid start provided by openers. Pakistan collapsed to 198 for seven from 160 for one before Gul's 25-ball cameo saved them the blushes. Gul was named man of the match for his heroics with ball as well as with the bat.
Muhammad Hafeez (89) and Nasir Jamshed (54) also played a key role in this victory providing a solid opening stand of 135 runs. Hafeez also claimed two wickets on successive balls, including important wicket of Tamim Iqbal (64).
Second match of the Asia Cup Cricket will be played tomorrow (Tue, March 13) between India and Sri Lanka at the same venue.
