Shahid Afridi named as man of the match in first ODI against Bangladesh |
Afridi took the innings in his control after Pakistan was about to lose their way at 63/5 despite a reasonable start of 36 runs provided by openers and then Pakistan lost 5 wickets for an addition of just 27 runs courtesy to some poor shot selection by Pakistani batsmen and impressive bowling by Bangladesh bowlers.
Afridi top scored with his little cameo of 24 runs of 23 balls. Muhammad Hafeez also played a handy knock of 22 runs, while Imran Farhat scored 12. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq was unbeaten at 16.
Shakin Al Hasan bowled brilliantly and picked up two important wickets in his 9.3 overs conceding just 42 runs. Rubel Hussain also bowled impressive for his two wickets while Nasir Hossain chipped in with one wicket.
Shahid Afridi picks his fifth wicket on the last ball of Bangladesh innings as the host got all out cheaply under 100.
Nasir Hossain is again the top scorer for Bangladesh with his 21-run innings while Mushfiqur Rahim (11) and Shakib Al Hasan (15) are the only other to get a double figure score. The longest partnership of 36 runs was between Shakib and Nasir Hossain. Bangladesh is sent back to pavilion for just 91 in 30.3 overs.
All Pakistani bowlers among the wickets as Umar Gul, aizaz Cheema, Shoaib Malik, Saeed Ajmal and Muhammad Hafeez sharing one wicket each.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first in first ODI against touring Pakistan. The hosts lost their blazing opener Tamim Iqbal in the very first over to Muhammad Hafeez who is now regulary opening the bowling, as well, along with Umar Gul and doing absolutely well for Pakistan.
Shahid Afridi was named man of the match for his five-wicket haul and match winning unbeaten innings of 24 runs.
