DUBAI, UAE (Feb. 05) – Pakistan will resume their second innings on 222/2 on day 3 of the third and final Test of the series against England here at Dubai Sports Complex (DSC), Dubai.
Day 2: Younis Khan's ton put England back in trouble |
After 42-run lead in first innings England were poised to avert the series whitewash until Younis Khan emerged from pavilion after Pakistan lost their both openers for just 20 odd runs. Younis Khan and Azhar Ali played responsible innings to save Pakistan from complete disaster; especially the veteran Younis Khan, due with a long and steady innings, responded marvelously to pile up his career’s 20th century – which happened to be the first ton of current series.
Pakistan were completely down on first day after getting out cheaply for just 99; but their bowlers rescued them again and curtailed England on just 141 on second day. Abdur Rehman again bowled brilliantly for yet another 5-wicket haul. Saed Ajmal took three and Umar Gul grbbed two English wickets. England Skipper Andrew Strauss was the top scorer with his 56-run innings.
Pakistan is set to start their innings within half an hour with two set batsmen on the crease - Younis Khan batting at 115 and Azhar Ali unbeaten at 75. Pakistan has already taken 180 runs lead and if they managed at least 100-150 runs more then England will definitely find it extremely hard to survive the first ever Test series whitewash against Pakistan.
Let’s see how Pakistan will continue and what will the strategy of Strauss’ men on the field.
