India vs. England (4th Test): Day 3 Live Streaming and Score Updates - - India Hoping Rain to Save Whitewash for Them (Summary Day 2)

LONDON (August 20) - - England will resume their first innings on the third day of 4th and final test of nPower Test Series against India. England has already set grounds with 457/3 at the stumps on day 2 and with a 3-0 lead in the series looking for a series whitewash.

Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell take a run during their 350-run stand
Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell played brilliant innings to take England to a position where they have almost no chance to lose the test match.

India had a relatively nice opening session on second day as they bowled well in the to send back the openers, Andrew Strauss (40) and Alistair Cook (34), but then ran into Ian Bell and Kevin Pietersen, who broke their spirits and a few records in adding exactly 350 runs for the third wicket. Pietersen made an efficient, and occasionally, brilliant 175 and Bell was classy and chanceless throughout for his unbeaten 180.

Team India and fans will be hoping rain to save the test match and a label of ‘Series White Wash’. Let’s see what will be the strategy of Strauss and when he will decide to put India in for batting and exert pressure to force then follow on.

India will have to face buoyant England at Oval today in the fourth and final test of the nPower series. Following England storming to a 3-0 lead over India at the weekend, there has been lots of finger pointing with regards to the failings of the tourists.

Cricket expert and former Indian Captain Sunil Gavaskar said on Wednesday that with the current form and preparation, there is a 70 per cent chance that India will go down to a series whitewash at the hands of England.

“We don’t need a wake-up call, because we’re not sleeping,” the India skipper quipped when asked if the England series was a wake-up call for his side. The humility was seen in another remark. “I’m not into blame game. The entire team has failed, not individuals.”

Probable Squads for both the teams are as under:

India (possible) 1 Virender Sehwag, 2 Gautam Gambhir, 3 Rahul Dravid, 4 Sachin Tendulkar, 5 VVS Laxman, 6 Suresh Raina, 7 MS Dhoni (c) (wk), 8 Amit Mishra, 9 Praveen Kumar/RP Singh, 10 Ishant Sharma, 11 Sreesanth

England (probable) 1 Andrew Strauss (capt), 2 Alastair Cook, 3 Ian Bell, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Eoin Morgan, 6 Ravi Bopara, 7 Matt Prior (wk), 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 Stuart Broad, 10 Graeme Swann, 11 James Anderson

India v England (3rd Test) Day 2 Live Streaming and Score Updates - - England on Top on First Day

BIRMINGHAMIndia vs. England (3rd Test), nPower Test Series

Rahul Dravid Dismissed by Some Brilliant Bowling by Tim Bresnan

England will resume their first innings on 84/0, with Andrew Strauss in killing form batting on 52 and Alastair Cook batting on 27, on day two of the third test of 4-test nPower series.

Earlier on the first day; England won the toss first time in the series and decided to invite visitors to bat on which proved to be a more than good decision as India lost their top and middle order for just Nelson (111) on the board. MS Dhoni (77) and Praveen Kumar (26) shared a good stand before England wrapped up the tail after tea.

India only managed 24 runs after tea with England returning to the discipline they had shown in the morning session to dismiss Dhoni and Ishant Sharma in quick succession with a total of 224 on the scoreboard.

With the exception of the spell when Dhoni and Kumar were in, England were excellent once again with the ball. Broad and Bresnan finished with four wickets apiece and along with Anderson, they had dismissed what was a full-strength India batting line-up with plenty of time left on day one.

On their turn with the bat; Andrew Strauss and Alastair Cook made a significant dent in the total during the final 23 overs. Strauss reached his first international fifty of the season, 25th of the career, as the pace bowlers struggled to make an impression and Amit Mishra didn't pose many problems.

England in Command Even After MS Dhoni's Resistance with the Bat on the Day One of Third Test at Edgbastan

Andrew Strauss half-century kept England in command after bowlers destroyed Indian batting
India were struggling at 205 for eight at tea despite Mahendra Singh Dhoni's counter-attacking unbeaten half-century on the opening day of the third cricket Test against England, here today.

The India skipper finally produced an innings of substance as he helped India cross the 200-mark after being reduced to 111 for seven at one stage, with Tim Bresnan (four for 62) and Stuart Broad (three for 47) doing the maximum damage.

Dhoni had smashed 61 off 72 balls and put on 84 runs for the eighth wicket with Praveen Kumar (26) after rival skipper Andrew Strauss put the visitors in.
The visitors, 75 for four at lunch, lost the wickets of Suresh Raina (2), VVS Laxman (30) and Amit Mishra (4) in no time on resumption, before Dhoni and Kumar did the recovery work.

Dhoni took 16 balls to get off the mark — through a pre-determined push to covers off Bresnan — but then took the attack to the opposition camp on an increasingly slow Edgbaston pitch.

He straight drove and pulled James Anderson for fours and then played Stuart Broad off the backfoot before pulling him for a four.

In his groove, Dhoni smote Anderson over mid-on for six and then lifted Tim Bresnan over midwicket for another maximum.

He reached his half century when he off-drove Graeme Swann, introduced into the attack in the 47th over, having faced 63 balls. He hit seven fours and two sixes.

Kumar, at the other end, was an ideal foil to his skipper. He too hit some effective boundaries, showing no respect to Swann, whom he also lofted for a six.

Pitch report: It has a fair amount of grass, but it will be on the slower side. It won't be as pacy as the ones we have had at Lord's and Trent Bridge. There will be lateral movement and it's quite damp. It's going to turn says Sourav Ganguly and the cracks are going to widen as the game progresses. Ganguly wants India to bat first if they win the toss. He reckons anything between 250-280 would be a decent score.

Australia Crushed the Hosts Sri Lanka by 7 Wickets in 1st ODI

Sri Lankan Players Congratulated Michael Clarke (53*)
Mitchell Johnson's career-best six wickets and Shane Watson's aggressive innings of 69 runs led Australia to a seven-wicket victory in the opening one-day international against Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

Johnson's left-arm seamers claimed 6-31 to restrict Sri Lanka to a modest 191, with lower-order batsman Suraj Randiv top-scoring with a six and four boundaries in 41 runs at Pallekele International Stadium.

Watson then hit six sixes and five boundaries to help Australia to its first win of the tour after having lost both Twenty20 matches to Sri Lanka, assisted by half-centuries from captain Michael Clarke (53 not out) and former skipper Ricky Ponting (53).

"I think we are off to a fantastic start in this series," Clarke said. "Mitchell bowled beautifully and executed his skill very well today. We've got a long way to go I think today is just a start."

Sri Lanka captain Tillakaratne Dilshan blamed bad batting for his team's loss.
"We took some bad options. We batted badly, a total of 250 would have been handy for the spinners," Dilshan said.

Batting first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka made a steady start with Upul Tharanga and Dilshan taking the total to 54 runs.

Tharanga, who was back in the side after serving a suspension for using a banned substance at this year's World Cup, hit seven boundaries for 34 runs before being bowled by left-arm spinner Xavier Doherty.

Offspinner David Hussey had Dilshan caught by Doug Bollinger for 29 with the total on 76.

Johnson entered the fray and had Mahela Jayawardene caught behind for 3 before running through the middle and lower order.

He also took the crucial wickets of Kumar Sangakkara (16), Dinesh Chandimal (15), Jeevan Mendis (2) and Randiv in eclipsing his previous best figures of 5-26 against India in 2007.

Australian openers Brad Haddin and Watson shared 59 runs before Haddin was bowled by spinner Ajantha Mendis for 12.

Watson was caught by Jayawardene off spinner Randiv after facing only 51 balls.

Clarke and Ponting put on 101 for the third wicket to ensure victory. Ponting hit five boundaries in 71 balls, while Clarke hit only one boundary in a measured knock.

The next ODI in the five-match series is on Sunday at Hambantota.

India Tour to England - - Third Test: Match Preview, Probable Squads, Live Score Updates and Live Streaming

Sachin Tendulkar (L) attends a practice session at the Edgbaston cricket ground in Birmingham, central England on August 9 2011, ahead of today's third test match against England.
India vs. England 3rd Test at Birmingham is really in trouble due to wide spreading of the rioting from London to Birmingham and Liverpool. Reportedly, Team India’s some public schedule is expected to be changed due to chaos and violence wave across UK.

The India vs. England 2011 3rd test of nPower Test series will attempt to get started today (Wednesday, August 10) at 11:00 AM local time or 06:00 AM EDT. The test continues through Sunday, August 14th.

India is desperately looking for a victory in 3rd test after England dominated them in the first two tests. MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar will look for strong performances to avoid losing the third test in England. However, the current odds favour England to win the series here in their home territory.

England is definitely eyeing to dominate again and secure the World No. 1 ranking in Test cricket. Their fans are certainly hoping for some good news after all that has been going on lately with the riots and the stock markets. On the other hand, India will try to bounce back from their earlier disappointing losses.

A key aspect to keep in mind for this specific test match will be the fact England has won four of five Tests against India at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The last time the two teams met was in 1996 though.

IProbable squads for India vs. England 3rd Test nPower Series:

England (probable): 1 Andrew Strauss (capt), 2 Alastair Cook, 3 Ian Bell, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Eoin Morgan, 6 Ravi Bopara, 7 Matt Prior (wk), 8 Tim Bresnan, 9 Stuart Broad, 10 Graeme Swann, 11 James Anderson.

India (probable): 1 Virender Sehwag, 2 Gautam Gambhir, 3 Rahul Dravid, 4 Sachin Tendulkar, 5 VVS Laxman, 6 Suresh Raina, 7 MS Dhoni (c) (wk), 8 Amit Mishra, 9 Praveen Kumar, 10 Ishant Sharma, 11 Sreesanth.
