Shahid Afridi Annouces Retirement, Family Sources Denied the News

Shahid Afridi retires after PCB Conflicts
KARACHI – Breaking News: Shahid Afridi announced his retirement from International Cricket today (Monday/May 30).

Former ODI team skipper Shahid Afridi told that he was unable to do with the current Cricket Board; therefore he has decided to retire from International cricket. He further said, “I united the dispersed team and punished for speaking the truth.”

PCB has replaced him as captain after West Indies tour for an alleged conflict with the coach Waqar Younis during the tour.

Afridi's family sources have denied his retirement news and told media that he was worried about the illness of his father and had no intentions to retire up to yesterday.

Reportedly, Afridi's father is seriously sick and is under treatment in United States. He also withdraw himself from Ireland tour due to his father's illness.

PCB Chairman, Ijaz Butt, has termed Afridi’s decision as his personal matter and he don’t want to comment more.

Shahid Afridi has played 325 one-day internationals for Pakistan and made 6695 runs. He has 315 wickets on his credit also.

Sri Lankan Batsman Upul Tharanga in Deep Trouble for Pistive Dope Test during Cricket World Cup

Upul Tharanga to face ICC Inquiry for Dope Test
COLOMBO - According to ‘Sunday Times’ reports; International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to hold an inquiry into Upul Tharanga being tested positive for using a prohibited stuff during the recent World Cup tournament.

Reportedly, Sri Lanka’s opening batsman Upul Tharanga was tested positive for a prohibited substance, Prednisolone, during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. 

The substance in question is normally used for a wide range of inflammatory and auto-immune conditions such as asthma and the 26-year-old has a history of asthma.

Upul Tharanga has stated already that he used a medicine, containing prohibited drug, prescribed by a famous medical consultant who has treated Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Ashish Nehra.

FAISALABAD - Pakistan will take on Afghanistan in the third and last ODI match at Iqbal Stadium today (Sunday/May 29). Pakistan has already an unbeaten lead of 2-0 in 3-match series. Pakistan beat Afghanistan in their second ODI match by 150 runs on Friday (May 27) to secure victory in the 3-match series.

The last ODI at Iqbal Stadium is a day/night fixture and according to a spokesperson of City District Government (CDG); all preparations have been done to hold cricket match in a safe and sound conditions. 

Naseem Sadiq, Faisalabad District Coordination Officer (DCO), has also instructed all the realted departments to take proper measures to make sure foolproof security in and around Iqbal Stadium.

CHENNAI – IPL 2011 final was played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Chennai Super Kings retains IPL crown beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by huge 58 runs.

The highest total ever was posted in an IPL final with an innings adorned with as many as 13 sixes and 7 boundaries, and a crushing opening stand of 159, to power the Chennai to an magnificent 205/5. Courtesy to Murali Vijay's quick fire 95 and Mike Hussey's 63, CSK posted a mammoth 205/5 and defended the total successfully by keeping RCB to just 147/8. Vijay was named the Man of the Match.

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and invited visitors to bat first, which later on proved a good decision when top three bowlers of RCB dominated the game with very first ball of the game. Zaheer Khan, Sreenath Aravind and Daniel Vettori picked up two wickets each to restrict Chennai Super Kings on just 128/8 in 20 overs.

Later on, it was all Chris Gayle’s game, especially after Virat Kolhi (31) fell on 80, who smashed unbeaten 75 off just 50 balls and lead Bangalore to top of the points table with this very latest victory. Gayle was named as man of the match for his match winning innings.

IPL 2011 (May 21) - Latest Points Table and Updated Team Positions

MUMBAI (May 21) - One match of Indian Premier League (IPL 2011) was played yesterday (Friday/May 20) between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Rajasthan Royals crushed Mumbai Indians by 10 wickets.

Shane Watson smashed unbeaten 89 runs off 47 balls after performing brilliantly with the ball grabbing 3/19 to demolish Mumbai Indians. Rajasthan Royals cruised into victory by 10 wickets with 6.5 overs to spare, easily over-hauling Mumbai's 133/5.

Mumbai Indian are now on the edge on elimination from the tournament after their recent lost to Rajasthan Royals.

Top four places on the points table are unchanged with CSK leading the table followed by RCB, KKR and Mumbai Indians.
